A final category is titled ‘Flagged Questions’. These will be questions that the user has noted that they would like to come to, or those that they have found difficult.

Categories can be selected, then the app will ask the user which questions they would like included from those categories. They can choose either either All, Wrong, New, or Wrong And New. Auto-Move to the next question is also optional, and if turned on, will mean the user does not have to confirm every answer individually.

Once the practice session has been started, questions will begin being generated. The user can answer the questions in as much time as they need, there is no limit. If they find a question hard, or would like to return to it later, they can flag it. The user can end the practice session whenever they want by clicking the ‘Finish’ button. Their score will appear as a percentage, and whether they would have passed or not will be shown.

Mock Tests - Motorcycle Theory Test App

Unlimited mock tests can be taken in the app, and require an 86% score to be passed. All tests are timed, allowing the user 57 minutes to complete them, as they would be allowed in the real exam. The app will randomly generate 50 questions, then allow the user to review them before finishing the test. Once finished, the user’s result will be revealed, and a breakdown of the questions will be shown.

Previous mock test results can also be viewed, highlighting the progression the user is making over time.

Hazard Perception - Motorcycle Theory Test

The second part of a motorcycle theory test is a segment on hazard perception, and this app mimics that by providing 78 clips the user can practice with. Real-life footage, as well as CGI clips, allow the user to heighten their awareness and learn what to be prepared for.

The clips range in time, usually between one and two minutes in length. During the clip, one or more hazards will arise, and the user is required to tap on the screen to signal when they believe this is happening. They can score from one to five points, so the earlier they spot the hazard the higher their score will be.

Pros

1. All The Bases Are Covered – With the comprehensive breakdown of categories and explanations, this app leaves no gaps in your knowledge. It boasts more questions than any other app, book, or CD!

2. Official Licensing – Not only are you guaranteed to be on the right track because this app is licensed by the DVSA, but you can also rely on the official Highway Code, as it’s included free of charge for your perusal.

3. Plethora Of HPTs – With over 70 videos to choose from, you’ll never run out of Hazard Perception Tests to sharpen your alertness.

4. Intuitive Coach Mode – After using the app for a while, a pattern will form, and you’ll start realising where you’re struggling the most. In this case, the app will too, then it will it pose those questions more frequently so you can get to grips with them.

Cons

1. ‘Schools’ Feature – Although this is beneficial for those who want to advance their riding skills with Camrider, I found it a bit limiting. It serves no purpose, other than as an advertisement.

2. Increasingly Costly – It’s not going to break your bank, but this app costs nearly £6 at present. It was half that when I bought it two years ago. Times are a changin’!

So, What's The Verdict?

Motorcycle Theory Test & Hazard Perception 2021 does exactly what it promises. It provides you all the tools to pass your theory test the first time, and that’s all we’re asking for. I spent half an hour a day on it, in the two weeks leading up to my test, and I couldn’t have felt more confident when it came around to my exam day.

The developers do a great job of updating the app, and keeping it in line with the current rules and regulations. All your progress is tracked too, which helps you determine whether you’re ready or not. It’s also worth mentioning that it works offline, so you can even squeeze in some quick revision when you’re on the underground!

In short, save yourself time and money by spending the £6, then you can be sure you won’t have to spend more on re-taking your test. Good luck!
