Things To Do In Lockdown

Another day in lockdown always presents that same question – what will I do today? By now we’ve tried learning a new language, picked up (and put back down!) a new exercise routine, and done everything in our power to feel productive. But what now? If you’re still struggling to find things to keep you entertained, look no further. Here I’ve put together my Top 3 Picks, for Things To Do In Lockdown – and of course, they all involve some form of motorcycle therapy.

Things To Do In Lockdown - My Top 3 Picks

I’ll kick this off with one of my favourite things to do when I’m not out riding, and that happens to be reading. Sitting down with a good book can prevent anyone from feeling cooped up, especially when the weather isn’t favourable. With so many enthralling reads to choose from, it was a hard job to narrow it down to just one, but I stand by my recommendation, as I’m sure you’ll love it!

Jupiter’s Travels by Ted Simon, first published in 1979, is the story of a man and his motorcycle – his Triumph Tiger 100 to be exact. Over the course of four years, from 1973 to 1977, Ted travelled the world in an adventure that has been revered by motorcyclists ever since. His encounters along the way change his preconceptions of culture, race and religion, as his experiences open his eyes to the unknown world his two wheels take him to.

Humorous at times, and always honest, Ted sheds his inhibitions, immersing himself deeper into the beliefs and traditions of the people he meets. Sharing his accounts from all corners of the globe while riding the roads less travelled, Ted paints a picture so vividly with his words, that you’ll feel like your riding right there next to him. In a time where we could all do with a holiday, Jupiter’s Travels is sure to cure your restlessness for the time being.

Watch

I was hesitant to make this suggestion, but as I spent so many hours putting this recommendation together, and gained so much from it, I felt I had to include it.

While you’re here at rideruk.com, why not head on over to my Media page, where you’ll find over 100 hours of must-watch motorcycle media at your fingertips. I’ve compiled all my favourite programmes, documentaries and YouTube channels, that have seen me through the pandemic. Almost everything in the list is accompanied by a trailer, to give you a taste of what you’ll be in for.

My suggestions are scored individually, out of 10, and are in order from highest to lowest. At the bottom of the page you’ll find my top picks for categories such as Worldwide Motorcycling, MotoGP Racing, Motorcycle Mentality, and The Best Of The British. Suggestions are welcome, and could be added to the list, so feel free to get in touch with your favourite motorcycle media.

Now this one had to be third. It’s so addictive that if I had mentioned it first, you may never have read on to the other two recommendations. I have previously reviewed this product on my YouTube channel, and haven’t put it down since I started playing.

Ride 4 – the most life-like motorcycle simulator ever released – is gripping, exciting, and has the potential to lock you in for hours at at a time. It begins as the most challenging game you’ve ever played, and makes you want to pull your hair out, but strangely, that draws you in further, until you’re donning marvellous bald patches as you masterfully sweep through Mugello’s satisfying bends, in pole position.

Ride 4 Review

With over 30 tracks, and 170 models of motorcycle to choose from, the fun never stops! Customisation options for the bikes and rider expand the content further, and beautiful graphics are complimented by accurate physics. Ride 4 is a full on feast of entertainment, and that’s something we could all use right now.

Things To Do In Lockdown - My Top 3 Picks

That concludes My Top 3 Picks for Things To Do In Lockdown. I hope it was helpful, and that at least one of my suggestions appealed to the rider in you. There’s nothing quite like being out on the open road, but for now, the best thing we can do is stay safe in our homes. Until the lockdown’s lifted – hands, face, space… and keep it two wheels!
